Brian Reiss, MD Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Reiss limits his practice to disorders of the spine (cervical, thoracic, and lumbar). He treats neck and back pain, sciatica and other nerve pain to fractures and other trauma.

Dr. Reiss grew up in Ontario, Canada. A strong interest in the sciences led him to a degree in engineering, followed by medical school in Toronto. He was inspired to pursue spine surgery while studying medicine and working with Dr. Ian Macnab.

After graduating from medical school in 1982, Dr. Reiss went on to do a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago and Cook County Hospital.

Following up on his interest in spine surgery, Dr. Reiss returned to Toronto for continued fellowship training with Dr. Robert McBroom. Even though Dr. Ian Macnab had recently retired, he returned to do six months of clinical work with Dr. Reiss.

Colorado was the next destination to be near family and enjoy the availability of outdoor activities and the state's natural beauty.

Dr. Reiss is on staff at several Denver area hospitals and on the spine trauma team at Swedish Medical Center, one of the state's few level one trauma centers. He is married with two children. Dr. Reiss enjoys riding horses, skiing, tennis, cycling and spending time with his family.
